The Foster Grandparent Program seeks to improve the overall quality of life for the older adult volunteer and to help provide enrichment opportunities for children with special needs. The Foster Grandparent Program began on August 28, 1965 as a national demonstration effort to show how low-income individuals aged 55 and over have the maturity and experience to establish a personal relationship with children having either exceptional or special needs.

How We Help
The Foster Grandparent Program is a program for low-income individuals age 55 and over who thrive on direct interaction with children and believe they can make a difference in their lives.  Income-eligible foster grandparents receive a modest stipend to help offset the costs of volunteering.

Who qualifies for our program?
Individuals age 55 years and over, in good health that are income-eligible*.

*Income eligibility based on government poverty guidelines.
